Junior High School Retention
Junior high students who are not meeting grade level standards and expected learning achievement benchmarks are at risk of not being promoted. Retention, remaining at the same grade level for a second year, is an action to assist these students in remediating learning deficiencies and in meeting promotion requirements. All students are required to have a total grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher. Other factors considered include credits completed, courses required, student attendance, literacy standards, and assessment results.
