Welcome to Ball Junior High School's website! I am the Principal, Dr. Jaron Fried, and I encourage you to look around our site and learn about our educational programs and policies.  As Principal of Ball Junior High School, it is my pleasure to oversee the educational progress of nearly 1240 students and the educational programs presented by a highly qualified and dedicated staff of teachers. The Ball Blackhawks are proud of our rich history of academic, extracurricular, athletic, and artistic programs designed to benefit and advance student curricular and extracurricular achievements. The following programs and classes continue to promote that rich history: honors classes; AVID program; English Learners classes; special education services; English, math, science, social science, world languages, fine and performing arts, culinary arts, computer classes and extracurricular organizations that foster community responsibility and service. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our intramural sports program which provides after school competitions.

 

This year, Ball will strive to achieve higher mastery of the California State Standards. We are very proud of our rich traditions at Ball and look forward to providing the best possible learning environment for all children. Ball Junior High School was built in 1962 and is located within walking distance of Disneyland.  Over the years, we have been recognized as a California Distinguished School, our PE Department was a selected as a Demonstration Site for the state of California, and within the past five years we have had two teachers selected as finalists for the Orange County Teacher of the Year Award. Several years ago, the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation recognized our Band Director as one of the top five Band Directors in the nation.

 

I look forward to meeting all the students and their parents. I am always available to meet to discuss school issues or the individual progress of any student with parents, guardians, and the students themselves. Our excellent counselors and support staff make themselves available at all times to assist in designing and implementing effective school plans for our students.

The 2009-2010 school year promises to be one of our best yet. Please consider becoming part of the Blackhawk family of support, by joining PTSA, becoming part of the English Learners’ Advisory Committee (ELAC), or volunteering for help with school events.
