Cheating Policy
Academic Dishonesty is a Problem
What is Cheating?

Cheating is using dishonest means in an attempt to obtain credit for academic work.  The following offenses are examples of cheating:
  • Using or providing notes, documents, answers, or aids on an assignment without teacher permission
  • Copying answers from another person’s work onto your paper
  • Allowing another student to copy the answers to an assignment and/or test
  • Copying and pasting information from the Internet into your document and claiming it as your own
  • Taking a test, quiz or benchmark in place of another student, or allowing another student to take the test, quiz or benchmark for you
  • Looking at another student’s paper (e.g. on a test, quiz, etc.)
  • Talking during a test, quiz or benchmark; Discussing answers during passing periods; Text messaging answers
  • Tampering with teacher materials and/or student records
Note: Attempted cheating, even when unsuccessful, will be treated as academic dishonesty. Simply having observable possession of any prohibited or unauthorized information or device during an exam, even if it is not used, is an act of academic dishonesty. It will be dealt with as such.
